Road Trip Planner

Which EV handles road trips best?

Compare up to 3 EVs on any Australian route. See exactly where you'll stop to charge, how long it takes, and what it costs — using real charging curve data.

How road trip range really works

Charging curves matter more than peak kW

A Tesla Model 3 advertises 170kW peak DC charging, but it only sustains that rate to about 30% SoC. A BYD Atto 3's 80kW may actually beat it in some stop scenarios because it holds rate longer.

Charger location beats charger speed

The best charger is one that's actually on your route with minimal detour. A 50kW charger 2km off the highway often beats a 150kW charger 20km off route.

Real-world range is ~80% of WLTP

WLTP figures are tested in ideal conditions. Highway speeds, air conditioning, and hills all reduce range. This tool uses conservative real-world consumption figures for each vehicle.
